Torrox Costa
A relaxed seaside town on the eastern Costa del Sol, between sea and mountains.
Setting and atmosphere
Torrox Costa sits right on the Mediterranean, about 45 minutes by car east of Málaga airport. It is noticeably calmer than the big resorts further west: a long beach, a wide promenade with cafés and beach bars, and a compact centre with supermarkets, pharmacies and restaurants. Near the lighthouse, the remains of a Roman villa are a reminder of how long this coast has been settled.
Living here
The climate is mild, with long sunny summers and winters in which you can often still sit outside at lunchtime. Residents walk to the bakery, the beach or dinner by the water. Most apartments are within walking distance of the sea, while the villas spread over the slopes above town, many with sea views. The town stays lived-in all year round, so there is no deserted holiday quarter in winter.
Who it suits
Torrox Costa suits anyone who wants to combine the sea with everyday life: couples and families with a holiday home, retirees staying all year, and remote workers who value good internet and short distances. If you prefer village life and nature, Torrox Pueblo, Nerja and Frigiliana are a short drive away.
