Setting and atmosphere
Frigiliana lies about six kilometres above Nerja on the slopes of the Sierra de Almijara and is considered one of the prettiest white villages in Andalusia. The Moorish old quarter, with its flower-lined lanes, ceramic pictures on the walls and small squares, is car-free and made for strolling. From above, the view runs over rooftops and hills to the Mediterranean, about ten minutes away by car.
Living here
The village lives from crafts, gastronomy and a small international circle of residents. There are shops selling ceramics, honey and wine, restaurants with terraces and a lively festival calendar, including the Festival of the Three Cultures in late summer. Prices are higher than in other mountain villages, yet demand for restored houses and villas with sea views stays consistently high. Building rules in the historic centre are strict, which protects the character of the village.
Who it suits
Frigiliana suits buyers who want peace and atmosphere but also the sea within reach: as a retreat, as a second home with character, or as a year-round home for those who value hiking trails on the doorstep. A car is useful for daily life.
